Like most little girls growing up I was in love with horses.
On my seventh birthday my parents gave me my first horse, a mean
nasty little shetland pony named Dolly that tried to buck me off
and bite me all of the time. I still loved her with all my heart.
After Dolly came several quarter horses that belonged to my Dad.
Then when I was 10 years old I took riding lessons from a woman
who was a "trick rider", so of course I wanted to be just like
her. If you know me, you know that it never happened!
As my Dad was into the quarter horse thing, I went with him to
western shows almost every weekend. They usually had one or two
classes of girls riding english saddle seat. This was fascinating
to me and I thought the girls clothes and their horses were so beautiful.
Of course I wanted to do that too but I never got the opportunity.
High school and college came along and other interests took over.
That is until I came to work for Independent Equine Agents about
15 years ago.
Kris Knight, my friend and owner of our agency has a beautiful
saddlebred farm. When I came to work for her she let me ride a
saddlebred and I took some lessons. One of my childhood dreams
finally came true! Whenever I need my "horse fix" I go to her
farm.
A University of Kentucky graduate, I have 30 years experience
in
the insurance industry in equine, personal and commercial lines.
I am a member and supporter of many equine organizations. Look
for my advertisements in the Thoroughbred Times, The Bloodhorse
Source, Equestrian, Equine Journal and the Horse of Delaware Valley
among others. I have also been interviewed on many occasions for
insurance articles in these and several other equine industry
trade
magazines.
I am truly fortunate to be able to work in a business and contribute
to the equine industry that I love so much.
